Does Scrivener use AI?

Scrivener itself contains no artificial intelligence (AI), nor does it participate in any data scraping activity. That is to say, Scrivener does not do anything with your text in the background that would cause it to be sent anywhere from your machine to any other server.

However, for Mac users, it is important to mention that macOS 15.1+ has now implemented Apple Intelligence features. If you elect to enable Apple Intelligence on your system and choose to have it work with selected portions of your text, and are concerned with how Apple uses that data, you will need to consult their privacy statements on the matter. Scrivener merely acts as a host for these services on your Mac, in a similar fashion to how it allows the spell check engine to work on your text. If any of this makes you uneasy, the simplest approach is to disable Apple Intelligence in your Mac’s System Settings under the Apple Intelligence & Siri panel.
