Manually Downloading Dictionary Files
If you have a working internet connection but receive a "download failed" error message when trying to download an additional language dictionary in Scrivener for Windows, a firewall or proxy server may be blocking the connection. You can work around the problem by manually downloading the dictionary files from the links below and copying them into Scrivener's directory.
-
Right-click the link for each file in the desired language and choose to save the link. (The exact wording in the context menu will depend on your browser, e.g. "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As...".)
-
Copy all the saved language files into the
Aspell\dict
folder inside your Scrivener installation folder. For instance,C:\Program Files (x86)\Scrivener\Aspell\dict
. -
Restart Scrivener and go to Corrections in Tools > Options, then click "Select" to choose the new language.
