Silly feature request: multi-compile

I have a slightly silly feature request for a later release of Mac3... Multiple version compiles: A table I can fill in as part of the compile dialogue that will get Scrivener to automatically compile a whole bunch of different things from the project at once.

This would save me a whole chunk of time at NiaD, but I though I'd raise it because there are probably other users who routinely compile multiple formats of their books at least and would welcome the opportunity to set it all up in advance and not worry about accidentally forgetting to change the front matter in the ePub format of version Blue from the PDF version to the eBook one.

That would be a great efficiency boost for me when I find myself needing to recompile 9 books quickly for a waiting audience.

While we're on speculative compile feature requests, it would also be great to have a quick "Compile as previous...", see this thread for more detail...

Sorry, guys, this isn't the place or time for feature requests. :) And even if it were, I'm afraid neither of these are in my plans. (Ian, I've already seen that thread - it's something that comes up from time to time but wouldn't work well for various reasons. And literally all you have to do anyway is hit Opt-Cmd-E and then hit return a couple of times.)

    All the best,
    Keith

Keith: NOOOO you should delay the release of V3.0 for another year or two to implement this feature at once!!! Everyone will understand... ;-D

Schweinkottfügel: you can trigger multi-format compiles from Scrivener if you use Pandoc. I regularly compile to HTML>PDF, DOCX and LaTeX ...

Thanks Iandol. That wouldn’t allow me to switch content, have specific front matter and change things like covers and titles, at least not significantly easier than re-running compile. It’s not difficult to do multiple compiles, I was just being greedy! :)

I'm not trying to sell you a used car ;-), but just for completeness, Pandoc templates can "replace" the front matter, changing titles and covers and lots of metadata, but certainly could not easily change the compiled document inclusion without a filter to post-hoc remove sections... I *LOVE* compile, don't get me wrong, and anything that improves its flexibility (triggering an automated drinks machine anyone?) is supported by me, even if there are obviously some design challenges Keith mentions...
